Dear Via Apostolica Churches,

Since the announcement of Bishop Todd Atkinson's leave of absence on September 5th, we know this has been a challenging time for all of our churches, which has been further compounded by not having a significant amount of information or updates to share. Therefore, as we await the establishment of an investigation process and team and eventually the outcome of the investigation, it is imperative for us to all have patience and exercise wisdom when considering this sensitive circumstance.

Over the last few weeks, the leadership of the Anglican Church in North America has blessed us immensely. Their love for Via, our clergy, leaders, and parishioners is apparent, and we wholeheartedly entrust this process to them, embracing this investigation and whatever the outcomes are.

Recently, information that endeavoured to provide pathways for individuals to come forward has circulated across various social media platforms; however, the path provided was not entirely accurate.  Accordingly, we wanted to update everyone with the information that we currently have.

The ACNA is actively forming an investigative process and team.  The investigation into the allegations will be distinct from the investigation into the Diocese of the Upper Midwest. As you can imagine, these situations are complicated and require considerable time and care.

Once the process and team are finalized, this information will be made public, including the appropriate channels for those impacted to come forward with their experiences.  The information already sent to the Provincial Response Team is being kept confidential and will be passed on to that team in the days ahead. In the meantime, keep this situation and everyone involved in your prayers.

"O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and light rises up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have us do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices; that in your light we may see light, and in your straight path we may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

Grace and Peace,

The Bishop's Council of Via Apostolica
