KENYA

Via Church’s mission in Kenya involves sponsoring two missionary couples, as well as a daily children’s feeding program and the EstherHome project.  Daniel and Marlies Hoogteijling founded this work in Kenya with a heart to care for the poor, the orphans and the widows; and to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ advanced in the midst of poverty and brokenness.  Daniel and Marlies are still involved in this work; but have now been called to serve at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. Wilson and Alice Kariuki 

Moved from their home in Central Kenya to live in a nomadic desert region of North Western Kenya to reach out to the Turkana tribe, Kenya’s Forgotten People. Their home is a place named Kakuma which houses a refugee camp and is surrounded by the Turkana people. From there, they have labored to plant churches, train leaders, and raise many disciples, gaining much respect and love from the people there. Wilson and Alice have three children: Fortress, Ansel and Prince.

Mwangi and Pauline Muchiri

Are based in Kitale and give leadership to numerous projects and efforts in their home city, and throughout the country. Among these are the Fireplace (their youth church), the EstherHome (a safe haven and discipling program for young single mothers in dangerous situations), the Bidi Children’s home, Upright Children's home, various evangelistic efforts, and more. Mwangi and Pauline have two children: Joy and Asaph.

Children’s Feeding Program

Through Via Church’s regular monthly donation, under pastor Wilson’s oversight, over 400 children in the Turkana desert region receive a meal every day, distributed through a local school. Because food is in such short supply, and government subsidies are often unreliable, this has effectively resulted in hundreds of children attending school who otherwise wouldn’t have. The last few years in Kenya have regularly seen harsh drought conditions; so this food has been a tremendous blessing for all of the families involved.

Esther Home

Is a project that was birthed through Marlies Hoogteijling’s passion for young moms to come and learn about their value in Christ. The young mothers learn from other mothers, all the while giving their children a safe place to call home. Marlies and Pauline work together on this project and have seen many moms come to know Christ as their Saviour. There are currently seven Esther girls and their babies at the home. MEXICO

For the past several years, Via Church has sent a team of youth and young adults to serve in Mexico.  One of the biggest projects for these teams has been to help establish the Casa Mefi Orphanage where underprivileged children can experience the love and mercy of Jesus.

PHILIPPINES

Since 2005 Via Church has been involved with both “Philippine Frontline Ministries” & “New Hope to Asia”. As a church, we also give regularly to New Hope to Asia to provide healthy meals to hundreds of Filipino children every week.  Furthermore, many Via Church members provide monthly sponsorship to children rescued by Philippine Frontline Ministries, providing them with shelter, food, clothing and education as well as in their operation of a street feeding program. 

Frontline Ministries - Jeff and Rowena Pessina

Led by Jeff and Rowena Pessina, Frontline is a diverse organization that has been serving the Filipino people for over 30 years. Ministries include evangelism, church planting, a rescue centre for children, street feeding, ministering to individuals in the hospital, jail and city dump; a school and a training center to develop leaders.

New Hope to Asia - Ding and Mona Teodora

Ding and Mona Teodora have been serving poor in the Philippines for over 10 years through their ministry: New Hope to Asia.  They minister to the children of the streets and squatters’ villages of Cainta. Through the “Super Kids” program and visits to squatter’s villages, hundreds of children are given a hot meal and the opportunity to learn about God’s word.
