Spiritual Formation is the life-long process of transformation in every dimension of human life towards the ultimate goal of human existence: union with Christ. This transformation process is sometimes known as discipleship in the Church world today, which means that everything we do for discipleship is part of Spiritual Formation.

As a Church, we do this continuously through patterned times of prayer, bible studies, engaging in the sacraments, setting aside times of silence, building community, spiritual retreats, and more. As we started to engage in these practices, it became apparent that we all needed to start by focusing on setting foundations first, and we believe that foundation is found in Daily Prayer and Scripture Reading. So, in response to that, we have decided to begin a two-year plan, which begins on December 3rd, 2023.

TWO YEARS OF SETTING FOUNDATIONS: Two years from now, we pray that every person in our Church will set aside time for prayer and Scripture reading daily. We believe that if we all set that time aside every day, God will transform us through it.

HOW? There are two ways we are going to start this process.

First, a new Prayer Guide. The new guide aims to help people at every stage of daily rhythms, from none to regular. There will be three booklets annually: Advent through Epiphany, Ash Wednesday through Pentecost, and Ordinary Time through Christ The King. To help engagement and ease of use, Fr Robert will host two meetings to help everyone learn how to use it. These meetings will be on Sunday, November 26th, at 2 PM and Tuesday, November 28th, at 7 PM. These meetings will be the same, so you only need to attend one. I'm doing it twice because we wanted everyone to get a chance to talk through it and ask questions. I am also working on a Family Booklet with options for families with little kids and families with teenagers. I hope that will be done for those meetings as well.

Second, a weekly email to help you confidently engage the Scriptures. This email will include reflections on a passage from Scripture from the Morning Daily Office Readings, an artistic reflection from local painters, songwriters, and poets, a reflection on Feast and Holy Days, and a reflection on each new season of the Church Calendar. Currently, 20 people are helping to build the material for these emails, which will begin being sent out weekly on December 3rd, 2023. We have writers, painters, songwriters, and poets reflecting on passages of Scripture, Seasons of the Church year, Feasts and Holy Days, and Books of the Bible. If you want to receive these emails, please subscribe below.
